Dawn Tevepaugh - Chief of Police at Durham Tech in North Carolina
A graduate of Western Carolina University and Pfeiffer University, Dawn Tevepaugh draws upon training from the FBI National Academy and more than two decades of experience in her law enforcement career. She began her career with the University of North Carolina, Charlotte (UNCC) police department. As a captain with the UNCC force, Dawn Tevepaugh managed patrol operations for the department and planned coverage of special events and operations, among other responsibilities.
After more than a decade with the UNCC police department, Dawn Tevepaugh took a position with the Town of Davidson police department as a sergeant. During her two years with the Davidson PD, she supervised K9 units in drug and explosives searches while coordinating with local colleges and university police departments.
Ms. Tevepaugh built upon this experience when she returned to a campus setting in her next role as the assistant chief of police for East Carolina University. There, her responsibilities included managing security planning for major university events and serving as the public information officer for the department.
After leaving East Carolina University for a two-year position as chief of police with Guildford Technical Community College, Dawn Tevepaugh accepted her current position as chief of police with Durham Technical Community College. In her leadership role with Durham Tech, she guides all fiscal, training, community, and security operations for the campus police department.
